The Story

In 2016 I become the first person to Standup Paddle Board the length of the Danube River from source to sea, with my paddle partner Kate Davis with me for a large part of the journey. Starting from the small town of Donaueschingen on the edge of the Black Forest, Germany through 10 countries, 4 capital cities & 3000km to the shores of the Black Sea in Romania, 90 days later.

A SUP journey of epic proportions which included false starts, snow, rapids, border force and river police, untold acts of kindness and a river shared with crusie ships, 300 cargo vessels and 1 aquatic swimming pig.

All camping equipment was carried on the board, protected in a pair of waterproof duffle bags. Camping was the prefered accomodation

  • Wildcamps - 48 nights

  • Campsites - 25 nights

  • Hotels - 7 nights

  • Hostels - 3 nights

  • Advergae daily distance paddled - 19.26 miles

  • Longest day - 38.52 miles

  • Total days paddling - 77
